A Midsummer’s Daydream to Lull You AWAKE and a Uranian Invitation

To be happy, look upon it so” From the Vigyana Bhairava Tantra Dear Friend, My all time favorite tantric practice is to view the world as Leela, Divine Play. Variations on this metaphysical perspective can be found in the most ancient teachings of seers and spiritual paths up to the present day—from experiencing the Earth Game as Maya, dreamlike illusion, to witnessing our personal realities as a movie we’re starring in, co-created by our Higher Selves as perfect vehicles for our awakening. Imagine that we’re all here playing a game of cosmic hide and seek. In the initial portion of the game, we’re in this lifetime on assignment; we’ve just forgotten what it is! I call this stage: “deep cover.” In fact, if we could look into the mass consciousness now without judgment, we’d observe that the majority of humankind in the present Age is wandering around without a clue as to why they’re truly here on Earth–deep cover indeed! For those of us who’ve reached a stage in our conscious evolution where we’re ready to awaken from the dream of Maya while still incarnate (which is one of the goals of the Divine Play after all), we need to make it a priority to move to the second part of the game and become seekers. And what are we seeking? We’re on a quest to remember our True Nature and the assignment we took incarnation for. For more on this philosophy, please click: LEELA Here’s what I do on a daily basis to fully enjoy the Earth Game and help me remember that what I’ve been seeking for eons has always been inside of me: 1. Spiritual and mind/body practices incorporating an eclectic blend of tantric, taoist and yogic techniques uniquely suited to my personality and level of development. Once my meditation has led me to a space of inner stability, equanimity and heart opening, I’m able to witness all the suffering I see around me and on the planet with infinite compassion and recite the mantra: “There but for the grace of God go I,” (and have gone I in many past lives). 3. Finally, and, most importantly, to align with the next level of my karmic healing and soul assignment, I contemplate what brings up the most fear and is the path of most resistance in me. Then, I dissolve the fear, while holding the faith that my True Nature transcends linear space and time. After that, I make a commitment to take actions in the areas where I have the most resistance. From this, gratitude spontaneously arises for what is, just as it is. The premier planetary energies affecting us now, and even more so in the years to come, are Uranus, The Trickster Planet of Awakening, and Pluto, The Guardian of Transformation, forming an ongoing relentless cardinal square or challenge, inspiring us to grow, whatever it takes. For more on Uranus, please read: Embracing the Unexpected, with an updated Addendum This means that we need to learn what Tantrikas know: “Here is the sphere of change, change change—through change, consume change.” Stabilizing at our core and dissolving fears of worst case scenarios as they arise by remembering our True Nature is one of the keys to a happy life. In this way, we won’t need to necessarily manifest our anxieties as FGOs (F**king growth opportunities) because we’ve repressed or fed the fear by indulging in it and projected it outward for the lesson. Now, I’m not saying (here’s my disclaimer) that you or I won’t still get whacked by the challenging transits of Uranus square Pluto over the next few years if it’s our fate (pre-programmed karma) to play it out this way. But, at least, if we follow the suggestions above, we’ll have done what we can do to prepare for whatever is to be and meet it with equanimity in the Flow. In closing, this summer is the perfect time to start a daily spiritual practice in your favorite place in nature. I love to experience my eternal nature while floating in the ocean, whenever possible, or in my garden, especially at dusk or dawn. There’s nothing like Being in that space within Us that is unchanging—whether you prefer infinite luminous Light or the dark timeless abyss of the Void—to refresh and awaken us to the wonder of the Earth Game in all its ephemeral glory.
